Carabiners are one of the important pieces of climbing equipment. They are designed to quickly connect components, especially in rope intensive activities such as climbing, caving and rope rescue, etc. they are small metal or aluminum loops with a strong spring loaded gate. Types of carabiners

There are different types of carabiners available in the market that are designed for different types of climbing. You must understand the difference between various models in order to use and choose them properly. Basically, there are three main important points to consider while choosing a carabiner;

Carabiner shapes

Asymmetric D Shape
They are strong and offer larger gate openings. Asymmetric D shape Locking carabiner is usually more expensive than other shapes.

Pear shape
Pear shape climbing carabiner is specially designed for rappelling and belaying. It also offers a large gate opening. They are heavier and expensive but not as strong as D shape carabiners.

Oval shape
They are versatile and affordable but not as strong as other shapes. It limits load shifting and offers more gear holding capacity.

D shape
D shape carabiner is the strongest one. It offers a large gate opening than an oval shape.
