For years, many manufacturers have claimed to make hydrophobic ropes. Well, they would? A rope that retains no water is far lighter to carry if used in wet conditions. But now, there?s a label that actually guarantees this property. A simple UIAA test can identify truly hydrophobic ropes. The rope is placed on a sloping surface, and sprinkled with water. The rope is weighed pre and post shower. The passes the test if it absorbs no more than 5% of its weight in water. MilLet´s Hydrophobic ropes only absorb 2%! To achieve this excellent result, we treat all the rope?s constituent threads: both the internal ones (core) and external ones (sheath). They are then polymerized at room temperature so that the effects of the process are long-lasting.

An expert explanation: the property of being hydrophobic was claimed by many manufacturers for years. Well, its understandable... A rope that retains no water is far lighter to carry when used in wet conditions. There is now a label that guarantees this property, and a simple UIAA test can single out the truly hydrophobic ropes. The rope is placed on a sloping surface, sprinkled with water, and weighed (before and after). The rope passes the test if it only absorbs 5 % of the water. Ours absorbed only 2%! To achieve this terrific result, we treat the interior threads (core) and exterior threads (sheath). So: 100 % of the threads are treated then polymerized at room temperature, to make the effects long-lasting.

- A double rope is made of two lap sections and are used in abseil, on the mountain and big routes ascent. If hesitating on length, pick the longest: it will work everywhere.

Triaxiale:
- One or more ropes used to form a braided core ensure resistance and safety in case of major snap on the cord pipe. It reduces internal abrasion on the rope when a fall occurs.


Care:

ROPES:
- Caring for a rope is critical in order to guarantee optimal safety when it is used.
- To wash a rope, it is necessary to use clean, warm water (temperature less than 30°C) and a non-aggressive detergent (such as a liquid Marseille soap-type detergent or a detergent for delicate textiles). If necessary, brush it with a soft brush.
- Drying should be done in the shade and away from any source of heat.
- Store your rope in a dry place, out of the reach of the sun.
