I love Fixe climbing gear. Gear quality is always high and prices are always good. Mailons are very good and I always have them when climbing (just in case...). Maybe little heavy but they are made from steel not aluminum. Recomended.

It is smaller than I thought. Let's say a normal / large size carabiner won't fit, but up to 10mm rope will. If you want it to carry climbing in case you want to abandon it and go down it is fine, besides that it is very light.

The 6mm is a bit smaller than I expected, if you plan to leave it as rappel in mountains with multiple slings through it you may consider a bigger size. But the quality seems OK.

opening length

In the 7 mm version, what would be the opening length of the thread? Would it be suitable to comfortably pass a 10mm rope or would it be better to opt for the 8mm one?

For a 10mm rope, the 8mm maillon is better. With the 6mm it doesn´t fit and with the 7mm it will pass but with a lot of force.

What measurements to ask for the maillon

Could you tell me what would be the size that I should ask for, so that in case of need to leave the maillon I can rappel with the rope through it and then be able to recover the rope without problems? ... I don´t understand the measurements!! THANK YOU.

I think that choosing one medium or another is something very personal. I usually order the 7mm ones, I find it a comfortable size both to wear it in the harness, and to manipulate the rope in case I have to abandon it. However, there are people who prefer larger sizes (such as 10mm) to be able to manipulate the rope more comfortably.
