When winter running sessions are long and difficult La Sportiva Ultra Raptor Gore-tex is an ideal waterproof running shoe for all round mountaineering activities. This versatile shoe offers technical functionality and comfort in the unpredictable mountain environment.
The abrasion resistant upper with waterproof, breathable mesh lining keeps you comfortable and safe throughout the day. Also, the Gore-tex Extended Comfort lining provides optimized breathability and flexibility even in wet and slippery surfaces. It works exceptionally well in all sorts of trails. The Snug-fit construction makes it perfect all types of mountain terrains, also the Quick lacing system makes it easier to wear.
Thanks to the Frixion AT with Impact Brake System offers excellent grip and traction on slippery wet surfaces. The sure-grip sticky outsole enables the shoes to penetrate into the ground and creates a good traction against the wet rocks while you are trail running.

Gore Tex model created for winter use off-road and over long distances, for ultra marathon competitions and endurance training sessions.
The uppers are made from abrasion resistant, breathable, water repellent mesh and the lining uses the Gore-Tex Extended Comfort membrane to guarantee water resistance and breathability. The integrated lacing system uses a webbing stitched to the inner stretch fabric while the high frequency reinforcements remain on the external mesh fabric: this allows for an optimal distribution of foot tension and keeps the foot in check without compromising overall comfort. Ultra Raptor GTX brings together the advantages, in terms of performance, of a snug fit construction, to the superior comfort levels of wide fit models. The result is a product that can be worn for many consecutive hours and for endurance on any type of off road terrain both in the winter or in conditions of extreme humidity, thanks to the Gore Tex water proof lining.

Lasportiva has always been synonymous with quality for mountain equipment. I used these shoes for two 5 and 4 day treks in the Alps, passing through both Dolomite environments and the harsh porphyry environments of the Lagorai chain. Really comfortable shoes ... no problem after keeping them consistently for all the aforementioned days. They prove to be truly indestructible.

My favorite shoes for ultra running

These are my favorite shoes for ultra distances! I have tried using many shoes, including several models from Hoka One One. The Ultra Raptor are the best I have come across so far. They are wide enough, offer great protection and excellent grip on a variety of tecnical terrains: I have used them in mud, snow, and very wet technical and non technical trail and have always performed extremely well. This is a great plus since many ultra races require running in a variety of technical and non technical trail so such versitile shoes are a great advantage. The only downside is perhaps the weight but it is a good tradeoff considering the protection they offer to against rocks, roots, and whatever else the trail will throw at you! I suffer from metatarsal pain and these shoes allow me to delay the onset of pain over ultra distances!
