Osprey Kestrel 58L Backpack

Product description Osprey Kestrel 58L Backpack

With several international awards to its outstanding utility and performance during hiking and outdoor activities, the Osprey Kestrel 58L rucksack remains one of the most popular, capable options on the marketplace.

Thanks to its AirScape™ backpanel, the Kestrel is a highly breathable and comfortable backpack that allows great airflow through your back in combination with its LightWire™ suspension harness. These highly wear-resistant shoulder pads – with a sternum strap and webbing hipbelt to match - also have external access for a hydration reservoir in case you wish to include it, and are fully adjustable for a variety of heights and constitutions.

But it is on its inside where the Kestrel proves to be a true workhorse. A double set of internal compression straps, located at this rucksack’s top and bottom areas, keeps your belongings in place at all times: a very useful feature in a bag that includes, in addition to a variety of organization pockets, a separate sleeping bag compartment with floating divider and a waterproof, removable raincover.

This utility is also kept on its exterior, where the Kestrel has several trekking pole attachments, easy-access pockets for mountaineering tools and additional fastening straps so you don´t lack any equipment on your next expedition. Off the grid. With a proven legacy, the Kestrel 58 is a rugged, high performance backpack, designed to be a true outdoor workhorse.

Kestrel 58 is designed for medium to long duration backpacking trips, or adventures where you’re carrying a large amount of gear. The large capacity provides space for bulky gear or gives you room to carry more than just the essentials. Accessing this gear is easier than ever before, with a huge U-zip opening on the front panel, providing an easy way in to organise your equipment or find exactly what you’re looking for. Kestrel 58 also features an upper lid access with a drawcord closure, alongside a lower sleeping bag compartment with a removable divider.

Kestrel’s backsystem has been designed for comfort and stability, featuring Osprey’s tried and tested AirScape backpanel and a sturdy hipbelt and harness design, these packs will comfortably carry a heavy load. An adjustable design allows you to personalise the height of the backpanel with ease, using a hook-and-loop torso panel.

Kestrel 58 features numerous locations to store your backpacking essentials, including nylon-reinforced water bottle pockets, dual zippered hipbelt pockets, a large front shove-it pocket, top lid pocket, under lid pocket with key-clip and external-access hydration sleeve.

Finally, Kestrel 58 comes equipped with all of the essentials for life on the trail; an integrated and detachable raincover, Osprey’s Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole attachment, multiple compression straps, sleeping pad straps, ice-tool attachments and multiple lashing loops.

Whether tackling mountainous terrain, deep forests or winding trails, these packs set a definitive benchmark in backpacking comfort and performance.

I really like the easy-to-use pockets and many systems.

Reliable service

Haven’t used the pack yet (looks great) but it arrived safely in NZ at estimated time so very happy with the service.

Great products, excellent quality, and various designs are in line with the needs. I hope I can carry it up the mountain soon.

Best backpack ever

Can’t fault this front opening backpack. Companion for life! Comes with Ospreys warranty too

Osprey Kestrel 58 • can’t wait

After trekking with my prior two packs across India and Nepal, it was clear neither were quite comfortable or well suited to my needs. Lead by recommendations from multiple acquaintances, I ended up ordering the Osprey Kestrel 58. Deciding on a size was a bit tricky seeing that I can’t go into any stores to try things on for fit at the moment and this particular pack is considered men’s (I am a woman), but I really couldn’t be happier. Haven’t gotten much use out of her yet, but she feels tough and is actually far more comfortable a fit than my last two women-intended packs.

I wanted a more comfortable trekking backpack because over the years my stuff has become lighter and smaller. immediately made a test walk with what I normally take with me for 1 to 2 weeks. felt good stable had a bit of doubt about the less thick hip and shoulder straps but felt no irritation or pressure points. time will tell but the first impression is very good

I bought the Osprey Kestrel 58 and the design is just awesome! Can't wait to use it for camping!

The design of Kestrel 58 is just awesome! Can't wait to use the backpack to go camping!

Read this before your buying!

The best backpack for hiking I've ever had! Just durable material and light weight, every feature made for exactly what a backpacker need: lateral opening, adjustable shoulder straps, mesh pocket water bottle that you can reach when it on your back is genius! separated main compartment so important as well.

Pleasantly surprised...

Compared to our Oprey Kestrel 48 bag bought in 2014, the Kestrel 58 has significantly and positively evolved. lateral opening is a real progress. The zippers are larger and easier to slide (especially for the bottom compartment) when the bag is loaded. The overall structure of the subdivision gives an impression of large volume available. The belt pockets are large. Perhaps a doubt about choosing to put the raincover down the bag (check at the next storm). And the little extra: the carabiner for the car or house key in the inside pocket of the flap. Despite these improvements, the bag remains light and -charged- is very very stable on the back.
