Product description Petzl Ride Ice Axe

Ultra-light and very compact, the RIDE ice axe gœs everywhere with you for ski touring or glacier travel, without weighing you down. Solid placements thanks to the all-steel head, a pick tapered to 3 mm and a bent shaft.

Features:

Highly technical:
- ice axe with steel head offering the same performance as a classic ice axe
- pick tapered to 3 mm at the end for good penetration in ice
- curved shaft and machined grip for good handling

Compact: with only 45 cm and a beveled spike, the axe can be stowed inside the pack:
- reduces the risk of injury when the axe is attached to the outside of the pack
- can be stowed inside the pack for more discretion and without risk of damaging the pack

Just a weightless ice ax! Suitable for stepskiing and long hikes to save weight. Due to the short handle, it is not suitable for classic mountaineering. But it takes up less space during the descent, and will not damage the airbag pillow with its sting if it is attached to the outside of the backpack.

impressive lightness. Delivered without strap, the linkin is apparently not compatible but I will still take it because no other indicated for this product.

I tried several spades but in the end I opted for this one because I am terrified of dropping it when it is attached to the backpack, but in this case the spade is the perfect length so as not to go too far out of the shape of the backpack. Obviously very light

Not much to add other than it's perfect for what I wanted it for. A light axe for running in the mountains during winter across ground that can often require a safety tool for some sections. I don't think it'll replace my BD Vipers for real routes any time soon, but as a light spare, or for longer non technical days out I'd be more than happy to carry it.
