Summit Evo is a Petzl ice ax for hikers. This tool is absolutely necessary if you are going to do alpine ascents due to its precision and efficiency.
The structure of this model is composed of a hydroformed tube that allows a comfortable grip. Additionally, it has a curved design in the handle that generates the necessary separation for vertical and icy terrain. As for its head, it includes a 3-millimeter steel blade, robust and serrated at the end, forged for solid anchorage.
If you want to cut steps efficiently, this ice ax for mountaineers has a sturdy blade. The average weight of this tool is approximately 400 grams.
Designed for classic mountaineering, the SUMMIT EVO ice axe is the tool of choice for all types of alpine trips. Lightweight and with a waterjet-formed tube, it offers a very comfortable grip under the head of the axe. The technical design of the curved shaft provides the necessary clearance on steep, icy terrain. The forged and well-balanced head provides very good anchoring qualities. The grip of the shaft makes it a precise and efficient ice axe.

- Hydroformed handle for good grip at the curve, and a technical design:
- the upper part of the shaft is curved to offer good clearance when climbing
- the lower part is straighter and guarantees efficient penetration in snow
- Head and pick in hot-forged steel, ensuring solid anchoring:
- thin (3 mm) pick, durable and toothed at the tip, ensuring good anchoring quality in hard snow and ice
- pick is thicker in the middle to favor anchoring in soft snow
- teeth on upper part of pick strengthen the hold on the ice axe in piolet-rampe mode
- durable spike in stainless steel for very good penetration in hard snow and in piolet-canne mode
- High strength and practical aspects:
- very durable steel adze offers a comfortable support surface, and the design of the edges allows stairs to be carved efficiently
- tilted adze directs the axe correctly into the snow (piolet-canne usage)
- head and spike equipped with holes for clipping a carabiner or attaching a sling
- high-quality aluminum shaft (7075 aluminum, used in aeronautics), with anodized finish for excellent protection
- Ice axe compatible with LINKIN leash

I am delighted with this axe. I bought it having ,borrowed one from a friend last year. It is very light and fits in the hand very comfortably. Delivery took slightly longer than expected, but it was still good service and the best price I could find in the shops and online.

Possibly the most versatile walking axe around at the moment and it can take on more technical terrain. Light, strong tho more expensive than the rivals, but you get what you pay for.

Extremely well designed and strong ax. Very multifunctional, I use it for easier technical mountaineering, skiing and glacier travel. Good grip on the handle and also good penetration for the ice. I use the 52cm, don't see a reason to have a longer one. You might want to consider something less technical if you are only using it for glacier walking or you are doing more technical steep routes.

I´m also 187 and bought the 66cm. For classic touring you can use it but for me it turned out too long, I´d rather have bought the 59 in hindsight. Doesn´t stick out so much
