The Salomon X Ultra Mid 3 Aero is a perfect hiking shoe of medium cane that combines the best technologies of the French brand to create a shoe with which you can face technical trails without much effort.
Salomon joined the Contagrip sole and Advanced Chassis to offer good grip and traction in mixed terrains, as well as excellent control of movement and stability to walk on rocky or dry surfaces safely.
The Energy Cell midsole of this mountain shoe provides a reinforced cushioning that allows you to face the most rugged terrains without feeling fatigued or tired. With the Sensifit system and the Ortholite insole, a feeling of support and comfort that you only find in the Salomon shoes awaits you.
The textile lining and the 3D mesh guarantee a good circulation of the air inside the shoe and enough breathability since the foot stays dry during the entire adventure in the mountain.
The best selling X ULTRA 3 MID AERO continues to evolve into an even better hiker. With the new Descent Control Technology, you´ll have more confidence on technical trails and for charging downhill. And its breathable, mid-height is ready for any warm weather endeavor.

having ,purchased salomon x ultra boots last year, which had a goretex membrane, i assumed that these would also be waterproof. however, they definitely are not! they are lightweight and very comfortable, but i still need a waterproof boot for winter!

I am not an expert but in 2 outings I have noticed lightness, protection and above all comfortable .. They have good grip on different surfaces. They weigh similar to a Nike running shoe.
