Internally, a steel shank in the mid-sole is ideal when they are travelling along grounds covered in debris as if they step of something sharp, this steel shank will stop it from reaching the soles of their feet and causing injury. Externally, the rubber soles are very hard-wearing whilst the angled tread pattern gives good grip when in ascent or descent, ideal for hiking trips.
