It depends on the width of the shoulders and chest. If the size is normal and you are not going to wear a backpack under the garment, an S is sufficient. If the span of the chest and shoulders is wide, and you are going to wear a backpack under the garment, I recommend an M to be more comfortable.

I am 170 cm tall and I bought the M. It reaches the lower part of my calf and it works well for me although it is a bit long, I do not trip when I go up stairs. In your case, an S would be more comfortable, I imagine that it would reach the middle of the calf.
