It is repellent to water and dirt free of fluorocarbon friendly with the environment. It has reinforced, adjustable and removable straps for greater comfort. The Lava is constructed around one large main compartment, with an internal zippered document pocket and another compartment which doubles as a pocket to stash the bag in.

The durable water repellent action of our PFC-free DWR treatments comes from a hydrocarbon based, silicone based and/or wax based technology instead of fluorinated chemical.

Irrespective of the ‘active ingredient´, all PFC-free DWR treatments used are totally free from all perfluorinated chemicals (PFC) (of course including both perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA)), free from other halogenated substances and free from alkylphenolethoxylates, including nonylphenolethoxylates.

The possible drawbacks are that the oil repellency and the durability of the PFC-free DWR treatments may be slightly lower than for a PFCcontaining option and therefore re-treatment for water repellency may be necessary at an earlier point in time.

In all, we use very good, environmentally friendly alternatives to PFC-containing DWR treatments.

Washing instructions:Washing instructions:We recommend hand washing in lukewarm water using a soap-based detergent.

Do not use fabric softener.

Loosen all straps, remove any detachable hip belts and wash the backpack in a bathtub or large sink.

Rub the backpack carefully with a soft sponge and then rinse thoroughly.

Hang the backpack to dry in a well-ventilated space, or outdoors away from direct sunlight.

Miscellaneous:We advise against using a washing machine and tumble dryer as parts of the backpack may come loose or catch and destroy both the appliance and the product.

Most products can be re-waterproofed with spray-on waterproofing.

Make sure that all of the metal parts of the product are thoroughly dry before storage to avoid corrosion.

For long-term storage, keep the backpack in a cool, dry space.
