Manufactured from a durable polyester and nylon blend, the Rook 50L can be adapted to a variety of uses – though it shines on camping and hiking - without losing its utility and overall resistance. Its AirSpeed™ backpanel, combined with a contoured, padded harness that has great adjustability, ensures an always comfortable load with a breathable feel. The addition of a webbing padded hipbelt with mesh pockets not only increases stability but also allows you to keep small objects and tools always at hand.
The Rook 50L makes use of internal and external compression straps to help you carry your items in a stable, organized manner. A sleeping bag compartment with floating divider at the pack’s bottom and an internal hydration sleeve, along with several stretch mesh side pockets, gives you all the practicality you need for long, deep trips into the wilderness. As per usual in every Osprey’s outdoor-oriented packs, the Rook 50L also has an integrated raincover for increased weather protection.

The Rook features a highly adjustable ventilated back system that incorporates AirSpeed technology with suspended mesh that creates ample air space between the pack and your back.
This allows the body to rest on the hipbelt of the backpack, which provides greater comfort and a very stable load support.
Thanks to an innovative tensioner system, adjusting the torso length is completely intuitive.
The Rook offers you a simple, fast and perfect fit.
To accommodate a greater number of torso lengths, these packs include two cargo lifters on the top that ensure that the shoulder pads offer maximum comfort whatever your position.
The wide, padded hipbelt provides a very comfortable fit and helps you carry heavier loads in your backpack.
The Rook has all the necessary elements to complete multi-day cruises:
a large capacity with access points to the top cover and the bottom compartment for the sleeping bag.
An internal divider incorporates a separate bottom compartment that can be removed when not in use.
It includes several compression straps that give the backpack more stability and do not detract from the functionality of the mesh pockets for the water bottles.
Dual hipbelt pockets and a large top flap pocket with key clip allow easy access to smaller items.

I bought this as a present for my friend, who's just starting to hike. Backpack is great. It suited perfectly (my friend it rather short) thanks to its adjustable backsystem. Has a lot of pockets, mashes and departments. Everything is thought through. Highly recommended for a several day hikes. It's also very light.

What is the difference with the kestrell 48?

I'm deciding between the Rook 50 and the Kestrell 48, but apart from those two liters of capacity, what is the difference between the two models? This is my first hiking backpack.

Hello, I am the owner of a Rook 50 and I have used it on trips of more than 15 days. My experience has been very good, the mesh that separates your back from the body of the backpack works perfectly and ventilation is guaranteed, the regulation of the load with the different possible heights, means that the load never presses on the shoulders and falls on the hip, the material is durable and the backpack is very well built. I definitely recommend it for hiking that does not require solving technical problems, and its use is only for the aforementioned. It does not have side access that the Kestrell has, nor does it have specific attachments for poles, although this is solved with the side pocket and the compression strap. If you are looking for something more versatile and a backpack that solves both hiking and mid-mountain, I think the Kestrell would be better for you. Now, if you can afford a specific one for each activity, the Rook 50 is a very successful choice for long-distance hiking. , Camino de Santiago etc. For activities with more irregular routes, the Kestrell would be better for you.
