I bought this poncho to consistently reduce weight. Had the StS nylon poncho before. It is a significant saving of 130 gr. And almost only half of the volume. I'm very satisfied.

Very adequate dessison for harsh conditions, where membrane clothes stop working. Could be used as upper layer over the memrane jacket, or as the only rain protection for milder climate. I have tried both scenarios and compleetly pleesed by the poncho. And of course, it is extreemly light and compact.

The Dutch hiker
A little on the short side for a tall Dutch guy like me (190 cm) Use it in combination with watertight trousers or rain trousers. You can opt to keep your arms inside which I like and also the brim works well. I would recommend this product. Happy trails.

good but...
Well .... I've ordered 2 poncho: 1. Ultra Sil Nano Poncho 2. 15D Poncho .... both Sea to summit good quality, light and compact. Shoe! I found no diffirence but price between these 2 ponchos - so i suggest cheaper one - No2!
An excellent poncho, not a tarp

This is very much a poncho and not the more expensive and slightly heavier 15d poncho tarp. Being designed as a poncho it does not have any tarp tie points or reinforcements. The edges are rounded and not square which improves the look a little but ensures any attempt to tarp it will involve flappy sides (I know I’ve tried). Basically I wouldn’t advice you buy this thinking it would make a passable tarp. I’m 5’10” and even if I pitch it at 50cm high it would not offer protection from the rain. So why 4 stars? Well it is incredibly light, and covers down to my knees. I have bought it for summer trecking (Croatia) where I don’t expect to need a coat but want something just to be safe. Being a poncho it is reasonably baggy well ventilated. I don’t expect it to be 100% waterproof but I find I can get a bit hot wearing a gortex jacket on a summers day anyway. Basically an excellent tiny emergency coat suitable for an unexpected summer shower.

High priced, but it works and is nice for the ultralight backpacking. We use these as ponchos, tents, footprints, and more.
