The North Face Exploration Convertible Pants can be used throughout the year since thanks to their removable legs you can wear them as shorts in summer season for greater ventilation or as long pants in spring or winter season for more protection against cold and wind.
The durable waterproof finish (DWR) makes these hiking pants resistant to water and expels moisture from inside. Besides, it incorporates UPF 50 with sun protection for the days of intense sun and high temperatures.
Its lightweight nylon elastic fabric facilitates the movements to climbing even. The legs can be stored in their pocket on the right side. This mountain pant has reinforcements in the legs and comes with multiple pockets with zippers to carry your objects safely.

Over engineered and tight around the hips

I'm 6'3" and kind of a rugby player's build and I find that the trousers, whilst being very well put together, are really tight around the hip area specifically. Good in all other areas. If you're a big guy, you might want to consider TNF Horizon Cargo Pant instead. I also find these to the over engineered. Too many uselessly small internal slimline pockets and those ridiculous loops (permenatnly attached to the inside leg) to wear the leg turned up to the clalf muscle...I mean, who in their righ mind would try and carry this 'look' off?! They look okay unzipped at the thigh. Good quality trousers that feel warm and robust, just too tight around the hips for my frame.

Like all North Face products, these pants are technically top! The finish leaves nothing to be desired. It is a multifunctional pants: Long, 3/4 pants or short. I am very satisfied.
